Azerbaijani-Italian trade hits $9.6 bln in 2011

Baku, December 7 (AZERTAC). Trade between Azerbaijan and Italy reached $9.6 billion in 2011 Rufat Mammadov, head of the Azerbaijan Export & Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) said.

Speaking at an Azerbaijan-Italy business forum, Mammadov noted: “This made 35% of Azerbaijan`s total trade.”

He said Italian companies invested $44 million in Azerbaijan`s economy in 2011.

“Some $33 million of this amount was put in the non-oil sector.”

“Italy is Azerbaijan`s main economic partner and more than 16 mutual agreements were signed between the two countries,” the head of AZPROMO said.

Mammadov added that 28 Italian companies were operating in Azerbaijan.
