Baku marks 20th jubilee of `Great Student Project`
Baku, December 24 (AZERTAC). An event marking the 20th anniversary of the “Great Student Project” was organized on Sunday by Turkish universities alumnus here.
The ceremony started with performance of Azerbaijani and Turkish anthems.
The event saw speeches by Azerbaijani Minister of Education Misir Mardanov, Turkish ambassador Ismail Alper Coskun, Turkish Former Education Minister Koksal Toptan and former Culture Minister Namik Kemal Zeybek, Turkish former Foreign Affairs Minister Hikmet Cetin, Azerbaijani ex-ambassador to Turkey Mammad Aliyev and others.
The speakers provided information on the history and implementation of the project stressing the importance of it.
They also recalled the words by Ataturk "The joy of Azerbaijan is our joy and its grief is our grief" and by national leader Heydar Aliyev "One nation, two states".
The speakers underlined the care and attention by national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to the development of education.
A letter by the Turkish 9th President Suleyman Demirel was read out in the ceremony.
The attendees also watched a film on the “Great Student Project”.
The event brought together deputies of the Milli Majlis, Azerbaijani and Turkish businessmen and others.
The ceremony culminated with concert programme.
