EU ATTACHES MUCH IMPORTANCE TO COOPERATION WITH AZERBAIJAN
Baku, 23 June (AZERTAC). Members of the Working Group on the European Union Eastern Europe and Central Asian countries on 22 June have met with Azerbaijani parliamentarians. The European visitors got acquainted with the laws Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic adopted last years.
The European Union attaches much importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan, Michael Strohal, member of the Working Group on the EU Eastern Europe and Central Asian countries, said. “The Working Group`s current visit is evidence to that,” he stressed. Mr. Stroghal praised Azerbaijan`s joining the Peace Partnership initiative, noting it will create firm ground for development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
According to his words, the EU is interested in establishment of stability and tranquility in region and in this sense, the legislative bodies of the countries could benefit this intention much more. The Declaration adopted at the EU Prague summit especially emphasizes that, he said.
Speaking of the steps the country takes to integrate to the European Union structures, Ali Huseynov, head of the legal policy and state building standing committee of Milli Majlis, said one of the successes of the independence years was establishment of co-op relations with EU institutes. The goal of the reforms being conducted in the republic, he underlined, is integration to the European Union. Azerbaijan, therefore, actively takes part at the Eastern Partnership initiative, he stressed.
