Expert: Azerbaijan is becoming a key energy partner for Europe in an era of geopolitical shifts
Baku, May 6, AZERTAC
Against the backdrop of a major transformation of the global energy system, Azerbaijan is gradually cementing its status as one of the European Union's key partners in energy supply diversification, said Stefano Braghiroli, Italian political scientist and director of the European Studies Program, in the latest episode of the "Azerbaijan and the World" program broadcast on the AZERTAC website.
According to him, energy cooperation between Baku and Brussels is particularly relevant against the backdrop of the Russia-Ukraine war and the gradual reconsideration of global alliances. Infrastructure projects such as TANAP and TAP are already shaping a new architecture for gas supplies to Europe, the expert emphasized.
"While Azerbaijani gas cannot fully replace Russian volumes, its importance goes beyond the numbers – it is about creating a resilient and flexible energy supply system. In the context of the green transition, it is precisely such reliable partners that allow Europe to move toward long-term goals without the risk of energy shocks," Braghiroli noted.
