FIRST AZERBAIJAN NATIONAL BECOMES NEW BP AZERBAIJAN PRESIDENT
Baku, August 6 (AZERTAC). Rashid Javanshir has been appointed a President of the BP Azerbaijan, replacing Bill Shrader who took the position of TNK BP chief operating officer. Javanshir will assume office on September 1.
BP Executive Director for Exploration and Production Andy Inglis arrived in Baku to announce appointment of Rashid Javanshir.
Rashid Javanshir is to be the first Azerbaijan national to take this high post. He will be responsible for BP operations in Azerbaijan and Georgia and export operations in Turkey. Appointment of Azerbaijani citizen as head of BP Azerbaijan is the successful result of company`s national personnel policy
Before his appointment, Rashid Javanshir was BP Azerbaijan Executive Vice President. Javanshir`s direct responsibilities included Onshore Operations in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey, Chief Executive Officer of BTC Co., and General Manager of SCP Co. In addition to these roles, he was President of the Shah Deniz PSA, with a particular focus on Stage 2.
He has extensive leadership experience in exploration, operations, group strategy and communications in the UK, USA and Azerbaijan. He is a professor of geology and geophysics.
