Ilham Aliyev participated at the opening ceremony of Khojasan substation

President Ilham Aliyev took part at the opening ceremony of Khojasan substation of 110/35/10 kW.

Currently, power generation system of Azerbaijan is based upon the most modern standards. In this regard, according to the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, a particular attention is paid to the power supplies to the city of Baku and its suburbs. On the basis of the decree signed by the head of state, starting from the restoration of its activities since 2006, Bakyelektrikshebeke OJSC constructed 13 substations of 110 kilovolt and 35 substations of 35 kilovolt as well as 100 transformer units in total. Besides that, it installed 600 thousand power meters and laid down hundreds of kilometers of cables and overhead power lines. Constructed 60 years ago, Khojasan substation was in absolutely obsolete status. Equipment of this substation was not in conformity with the requirement of contemporary period. In 2010, 110/35/10 kilovolt new substation was constructed to replace the previous energy facility. According to the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, a particular attention is paid to the high level architectural buildings of new power facilities and renovation and greening measures besides modernization of transmitters and distribution network of the capital city. With the comprehensive support of the state, the power company strives to implemented investment program in line with swift social and economic development of the capital.

Baba Rzayev, Chairman of Bakyelektrikshebeke OJSC Board of Directors informed the head of state about ring type one sided power scheme of existing and envisaged substations of 110 kilovolt in Baku city and Absheron peninsula. It was noted that Khojasan substation is another energy facility commissioned in the framework of ring type system.

President Ilham Aliyev was informed that 2 transformers of 40 megavoltamper per each as well as 10 and 35 kilovolt closed distribution facilities were installed in substation. In the framework of this project, reconstruction measures were undertaken in Sangachal substation. Two sided overhead power lines of 110 kilovolt were laid in the distance of 44 kilometers till Khojasan substation and other operations were carried out. Power is transmitted from these substations to the districts of Khojasan, Sulutepe and Lokbatan as well as some important production, social and commercial facilities.

It was reported to the head of state that all subscribers will be supplied power in uninterrupted, sustainable and quality way as a result of these measures undertaken on the basis of network’s investment program.

President Ilham Aliyev toured the control room of Khojasan substation. It was noted that the construction of this power facility making part of the encircling system is a great contribution to the reliability and sustainability of network. If energy loss or balance violation takes place in any of power centers of Bakyelektrikshebeke, this substation will play a role of hub ensuring the balance between other power centers.

President Ilham Aliyev started up the new substation.

The head of state was informed also closed distribution facilities of 10 and 35 kilovolts. It was reported that besides equipment and technologies of the most developed countries used in power facilities, the modern products are applied following the start-up of its production in the country. Indeed, as a result of a whole set of reconstruction measures undertaken in last several years, the capacity of network has increased by 53% and exceeded 4800 megavoltamper in comparison with previous years.

President Ilham Aliyev congratulated builders and energy specialists on the occasion of opening of a new substation by saying:

- I congratulate wholeheartedly on the occasion of opening of this nice substation. Today is a very significant day for city infrastructure. Roads such as Sumgayit Ring Road and Baku Ring Road are under construction. Today, very important issues are being solved in Baku. A great deal of job is done in recent years to ensure sustainable power to our city. For the time being, we can say that a larger part of equipment installed in this substation is produced in Azerbaijan. During previous years, we were dependent on foreign supply. As smallest malfunction would occur or any of spare parts would fall in obsolete form, we had to wait for equipment to be shipped from abroad. Today, such possibilities are created particularly for private business in Azerbaijan to enable us to produce such equipment.

In the course of last years, investments made in all fields yield its results. At the same time, wider economic activity cause higher power consumption. In spite of this factor, several big power plants were constructed recently in Azerbaijan, and today, our possibilities are dominating the demand. We have to take into account the future. After five and ten years, successful development of Azerbaijan will continue. We will benefit energy sources. We have to try making our power capabilities get ahead of time by 5-10 years. We create all those benefits.

As we delegated all power facilities of Baku city to Bakyelektrikshebeke, a turning point was observed in this field. It is quite a long period of time we are working in this area. You work in this field and know the previous situation. This institution was under other management. Those who managed it could not fulfill their obligations. Now, I recall that when we have been creating Bakyelektrikshebeke and its entire infrastructure and mobilizing all possibilities, collection of power fees in Baku was 26%. Today, this figure is higher than 90%. At the same time, high quality power supplies are ensured in the country. There is power shortage neither in Baku nor in regions. During previous years, it was one of the biggest problems. Power lines came to obsolete status. There were no power plants. Black oil resources were not sufficient. Currently, we do not use black oil at all. However, we use natural gas which is the environment friendly product of the highest quality. We have saved up so much!

At the same time, this field is a priority field. It is the power potential which defines and ensures the development of any country. We have everything, natural resources and water sources. Currently, we create renewable energy sources. We export our energy resources to other countries. We export power to neighboring countries. As a result of construction of new power lines, this export will increase further. Today, power from Azerbaijan is exported to Russia, Turkey and Iran. As a result of mobilizing power lines between Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey, this project will be implemented next year- We provide power in large quantities to foreign countries and particularly to Turkey. This increases our capabilities and strengthens the potential of Azerbaijan.

The power specialists play a special role in these issues and work hard in this field. I congratulate you on the occasion of this remarkable event. I wish you successes. Thank you.

xxx

President Ilham Aliyev wished successes once again to builders and power specialists and gave his instructions and recommendations.
