MEETING IN SLAVONIC UNIVERSITY HELD
This time, the University was visited by chairman of the State Committee for minorities and migration of Ukraine, Gennadiy Moskal.
The guests were met by students in Ukrainian national costumes in the center of Ukrainian culture. A meeting with the tutorial staff and students took place in the conference-hall. Rector of BSU, professor Kamal Abdullayev told on the activities and links of the University.
It is the unique university in the CIS where languages, literature, culture of Slavonic peoples are taught and aside from the centers of Ukraine and Russia, couple of centers is be opened shortly. We are having stabled understanding, said K. Abdullayev, we are glad to each other’s accomplishments. The rector pointed out at the agreements signed between the countries that are working and intense process of students exchange. According to him, Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Boris Aleksenko rendered help towards this.
The rector informed the guests of the department of Ukrainian studies where 30 students learn language, culture and legislation of Ukraine.
Gennadiy Moskal noted that Ukrainian Azerbaijanis and Azerbaijani Ukrainians consider as a homeland both countries. Ukraine has recently awarded a medal “Defender of Fatherland” to 300 worriers from Azerbaijan.
The participants spoke much of the veteran A. Gritchenko known as journalist and writer who wrote over 25 books on soldiers of the World War II. His book “May fallen’ memory live forever” narrating on people died in Baku hospitals and buried here. There were Azerbaijanis, Ukrainians, Russians, and Georgians.
Representatives of Ukrainian community in Azerbaijan, veterans pointed out to services of Heydar Aliyev and Leonid Kuchma in strengthening of relations between the countries.
The meeting was attended by ambassador B. Aleksenko and mass media representatives.
