NORWICH VJ'S TO PERFORM IN AZERBAIJAN
Video jockeys 2 Bit TV will be performing at the two free events this weekend to help promote contemporary British music and bring British hip-hop culture to young people in the country. The events will take place in Azerbaijan's capital city Baku today (Friday) and tomorrow, and aim to raise the profile of the British Council's work in Azerbaijan.
Formed in December 2000 thanks to a Princes Trust loan, 2 Bit TV were invited thanks to their popularity on the VJ scene in Norwich and the UK.
Co-founder Jamie Corteen said: "It's great for us on two different levels - not only does it promote the UK digital arts and music scene but allows us to practice our art in front of 10,000 Azerbaijan people. It's not everyday you get a chance to perform to that many people, let alone in a country such as Azerbaijan. Secondly, it's great to be recognised by the British Council and actually invited to represent the UK's new media culture."
He added: "VJing is becoming more and more popular and for us to be selected from the thousands of other groups is excellent. We've worked very hard over the last three years and this just shows us that it's been in the right direction."
2 Bit TV have performed at events across the UK including, Glastonbury, Dedbeat and the Eastern Sun Fayre, and also organise regular club nights in Norwich and East Anglia.
