‘ORIENTAL MELODIES’ FESTIVAL BEGAN IN SAMARKAND
A solemn opening ceremony of the IV International Music Festival ‘Oriental Melodies’ was held on August 25 on the main square of the ancient city of Samarkand. Singers and researcher of the Eastern music from Eastern countries, 32 countries of Europe and America arrived here to participate in the festival. Azerbaijan is represented by mugham trio conducted by the singer Zabit Nabizadeh and Rector of the Azerbaijan National Conservatory Siyavush Kerimi.
It should be reminded that Azerbaijani singers Simara Imanova and Alim Gasimov were the Grand Prix winners in the first (1997) and third (2001) International Festival ‘Oriental Melodies’ respectively.
The festival will last till August 30.
