PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV INAUGURATES NEW BUILDING OF NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF AZERBAIJAN
President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the new building of the National Archives of the Azerbaijan Republic in Baku on Thursday.
At an official ceremony on the occasion, the President cut the ribbon symbolizing formal opening of the building and toured its rooms where records were stored. He familiarized himself with some historical documents, including those related to Nagorny Karabakh. President Aliyev also watched the video featuring fire extinguishing and ventilation systems installed in the building.
The President extended his congratulations to employees of the Archives and constructors gathered here for the ceremony, and wished them every success.
The basis for creating a national archives system in Azerbaijan was laid in the 20s of the last century.
Currently, public records system in the country includes 6 republican state archives, 15 branches of the State Archives, the State Archive of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic as well as 57 district and city archives.
The archives contain over 6.5 million records covering a period between 19 and 21 centuries.
