PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV VOTED AT NUMBER 6 ELECTION PRECINCT OF CAPITAL
15 October 2008 will go down in the new millennium history of independent Azerbaijan as the day of the second presidential elections when over 4, 8 million electors will vote for the most reliable candidate to lead the country in the coming five years. The New Election Code of Azerbaijan meets all the European standards and provides for free expression of thought, and hundreds of international observers have been invited from abroad to observe these elections. Free and transparent pre-election campaign ensured equal opportunities for each candidate.
President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva at 11.00 AM in the morning on 15 October arrived at the Number 6 election precinct of 29th territorial election constituency located at School 6 of Sabail District of Baku. The moment was watched by tens of local and foreign media representatives, as well as TV channels. Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva also voted at the same election precinct.
As stated, 872 electors have to vote at this polling station, and of them, some 40 vote for the first time. 29 local and 14 foreign observers, including those from Turkey, US, Russia, Ukraine, Norway and Iran, as well as representatives of NGOs, of numerous political parties and of presidential candidates observe the voting process.
According to the electors, they vote for happy future of their country, for strengthening of Azerbaijani statehood, economic growth, dynamic development, stability and welfare in the country.
