Sochi passes baton to Baku host of the 2015 AIPS congress
Baku, April 18 (AZERTAC). At the final day of the AIPS congress, Dimitry Kozak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation officially handed over the AIPS congress flag to Chingiz Huseynzade, Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan.
Huseynzade stated that it was a great pleasure for them to take the responsibility for the next AIPS congress in Baku.
He added that it was going to be a very special meeting as 2014 is the 90th anniversary of the International Sports Press Association which was founded in 1924.
Huseynzade explained that Azerbaijan gained a lot of experiences in hosting big sports events and mentioned the FIFA U17 Women’s Football World Cup in Baku last year.
The 24-day-lasting Young Reporters Programme also took place in the Capital at the shore of the Caspian Sea. In 2015 Azerbaijan will organize the first European Games. A short video about Baku gave an impression of the city that is planning to host even more sports events in the future.
Naming the Olympic Games, Dmitry Kozak noted that the in fact “the work of the media is of foremost importance, the interests to Olympic values and sport in general depends on the media”
Kozak named the Congress a real test for the hospitality of the city and the whole country, expressing hopes that the attendees had an opportunity of productive work and a chance fully enjoys their visit.
