Azerbaijani chess players claim another victory at 44th Chess Olympiad 2022
Baku, August 1, AZERTAC
Azerbaijani men`s team beat Argentina with a convincing score of 3-1 in the third round of the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad held in Chennai, India.
Shahriyar Mammadyarov and Rauf Mammadov clinched the match victory, while Nijat Abasov, Gadir Huseynov drew with their rivals, bringing the teams` point to 2.5.
The Olympiad, which will run till August 9, witnesses a record 188 teams in the Open section and 162 in the women's category.
The Swiss system tournament features 11 rounds. Every team consists of four players plus one reserve player.
Time control is 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an 30-second increment beginning from move one.
