AFFA Secretary General meets UEFA officials

Baku, May 24 (AZERTAC). Secretary General of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) Elkhan Mammadov has met UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino and UEFA`s national associations director Theodore Theodoridis on the sidelines of the 37th Ordinary UEFA Congress in London.

On the instructions of AFFA President Rovnag Abdullayev, Mammadov informed the UEFA officials of the fact that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order on the nomination of Baku to host the matches of the 2020 European Championship and authorized AFFA to do appropriate preparatory work.

It was noted that the order of the President testifies to the state support for the Baku's bid.

Mammadov told the UEFA functionaries that AFFA will soon begin to prepare all the necessary documents. He stressed that the order of the Head of State gives such an opportunity, but also noted that Azerbaijan is one of the first countries to have received state support on this issue.
