Azerbaijan, France: cooperation develops dynamically
Baku, July 31 (AZERTAC). Foreign minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov on the sidelines of his official visit to France has met with his French counterpart Laurent Fabius, foreign ministry’s press service said.
The two ministers focused on the current state of and prospects for Azerbaijani-French relations, as well as the international and regional questions.
Mr. Mammadyarov handed over to French foreign minister the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s letter addressed to the president of France François Olland.
As noted, current year the diplomatic relations between France and Azerbaijan turn 20 years. To this end, Azerbaijani foreign minister invited Mr. Fabius to visit Azerbaijan. The invitation was accepted.
Minister Laurent Fabius expressed satisfaction with the current level of dynamics of cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, energy and humanitarian fields, noting that Azerbaijan is an important partner for France.
The government of France, Mr. Fabius said, hails the efforts the Azerbaijani government does to establish a French Lyceum in Baku, highly estimating cultural cooperation between the two countries. According to the French minister, the Lyceum will promote strengthening of friendly ties between the two nations even more.
The two ministers have also discussed the process of negotiation on settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Minister Mammadyarov expressed hope France will strengthen its efforts to solve the problem.
Mammadyarov and Fabius had comprehensive exchange of views around the topical questions on the UN Security Council agenda.
