AZERBAIJAN OPERA STAR ADMIRES UKRAINIANS
Concert devoted to the Day of Independence of Azerbaijan was held in the National Philharmonic Hall after N. Lysenko in Ukrainian capital on October, 6. The Embassy of Azerbaijan to Ukraine, Ukrainian and Azerbaijani Ministries of Culture and International Charity Fund of Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Friendship arranged the concert.
Popular TV presenter and director Rafig Hashimov and Honored Artist of Ukraine Inna Kapinos opened and led the concert.
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Kiev Mr. Talat Aliyev and MP Mr. Novruz Aslanov addressing the event, dwelled on the role of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, last five years’ achievements in the realm of foreign and domestic policies, touched upon friendship of Azerbaijani and Ukrainian people.
Sponsor to the concert Mr. Ilgar Abbasov, who is the President of International Charity Fund of Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Friendship, welcomed the audience, while Mr. Vagif Bahmanly, representative of the Culture Ministry of Azerbaijan, has given him a portrait of Heydar Aliyev. Welcome addresses from the Azerbaijan’s minister of Culture Mr. Abulfaz Garayev and his Ukrainian colleague Mr. Vasil Vovkun were read out at the concert.
One of the best voices of the Azerbaijan Opera and Ballet Theater, Honored Artist of the republic Fidan Hajiyeva and soloist of the Ukrainian National Opera, People’s Artist Alexander Gurets performed at the concert.
Azerbaijani opera star Fidan Hajiyeva won the audience by soulful performance of the music by Azerbaijani, Ukrainian and other foreign composers: Uzeir Hajibeyov, Tofig Guliyev, Rauf Hajiyev, Georges Bizet, Giuseppe Verdi, George Gershvin, Petro Batuk and so on.
Ukrainian officials, diplomats, GUAM Secretary General Valery Chechelashvili and members of Azerbaijani Diaspora attended the concert.
