Azerbaijan, Peru discuss development of cooperation
Baku, August 2 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s minister of foreign affairs Elmar Mammadyarov, who is in Peru for an official visit, met his counterpart Rafael Roncagliolo.
The Peruvian minister said his country was interested in expansion of cooperation with Azerbaijan, which is developing dynamically in the Caucasus region. Roncagliolo called Azerbaijan a “gateway” to the region. He underlined the necessity of strengthening of legal framework to deepen bilateral cooperation.
Mammadyarov briefed his Peruvian counterpart on the meetings he held during the visit to the countries of Latin America.
He noted Azerbaijan was interested in development of cooperation with Peru along with other countries of the continent. Mammadyarov asked Roncagliolo to deliver Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev`s letter to the Peruvian leader and presented it to him.
The Azerbaijani minister pointed out development of political relations between the two countries would also create solid basis for bilateral economic cooperation. He underscored the necessity of reciprocal visits, business forums and cultural events. The Minister also spoke of the negotiations process to settle the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Mammadyarov also invited Peruvian counterpart to Azerbaijan. Roncagliolo accepted the invitation.
