Azerbaijan, Russia discuss prospects of trade and economic cooperation
Baku, November 21 (AZERTAC). "Interfax-Azerbaijan" on Wednesday hosted a press conference of Russian trade representative in Azerbaijan Yuri Shchedrin, General Director of Baltika-Baku Alexei Skatin and Head of the Mission of the Russian insurance company “Soglasiye” in Azerbaijan Emin Aslanov.
Addressing the conference Yuri Shchedrin said the Russian-Azerbaijani trade and economic relations are characterized by rising trend, increasing two times for the past five years.
“Last year saw a record level of bilateral trade between the two countries exceeding 3 billion US dollars. Foreign trade with Azerbaijan involves more than 500 companies and organizations,” he said.
Shchedrin emphasized that Russian exports to Azerbaijan are dominated by machinery, equipment, vehicles, food, ferrous and nonferrous metals, metal, wood, pulp and paper products, chemical products, electric energy. Russia exports food and agricultural products from Azerbaijan.
Alex Skatin informed about the activity of Baltika-Baku brewery. He said that during the four years the company covered 70 percent of the beer market in Azerbaijan. The company plans to develop a line of a local brand of "Khyrdalan" beer and export it to Georgia and other Black Sea countries.
