Azerbaijan, Swedish Confederation discuss cooperation prospects in educational sphere
Baku, December 12 (AZERTAC). An Azerbaijani delegation led by Minister of Education Misir Mardanov paid a visit to the Swedish Confederation on Dec. 3-11.
According to the ministry, the Azerbaijani delegation met with the leadership of the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne.
The Azeri delegation was informed about the history of the institution. It was noted that founded in 1853 as a private school under the name École Spéciale de Lausanne, it became the technical department of the public Académie de Lausanne in 1869. When the latter was reorganized and acquired the status of a university in 1890, the technical faculty changed its name to École d'Ingénieurs de l'Université de Lausanne. In 1946, it was renamed the École polytechnique de l'Université de Lausanne (EPUL).
Azeri minister invited employees of the Polytechnic School to Azerbaijan. He noted that Azerbaijani Universities are interested in cooperation with world universities.
Mardanov met with the Arie van der Spek, CEO of the Glion Institute of Higher Education and Hans- Rudolf Schärer, Rector of the University of Teacher Education Central Switzerland, to exchange educational views.
Within the visit, Azeri delegation met with the Azerbaijani students studying in the Swedish Confederation and visited the University of Bern.
The meetings were attended by the Azerbaijani ambassador to the Swedish Confederation Akram Zeynalli.
