AZERBAIJANI FM MEETS DELEGATION OF WEU ASSEMBLY
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met Monday with the delegation of the Assembly of the Western European Union (WEU) led by Michael Hancock, deputy chairman of Political Committee of the WEU Assembly .
This trip aims to gear for the next visit of WEU delegation on September 14-17, which has to prepare a report on “Caspian Sea and Security of Europe”. The report is to inform the world community on challenges facing Caspian region countries and contribute to solving them.
Members of the Assembly were curious about the energy supply security from the Caspian basin, conflicts in the region, and Azerbaijan`s foreign policy.
Mammadyarov said security of energy corridors and resolution of conflicts in the region must be in the focus of attention. He stressed principles of territorial integrity and inviolability of internationally-recognized borders must be taken as the only basis.
The Minister said the Armenia`s aggression is the biggest problem for Azerbaijan . He added Azerbaijan is interested in reliable and friendly relationships, which, he stressed, are of great importance for security and stability in the region.
