Azerbaijani FM meets PACE Monitoring Committe`s co- rapporteurs

Baku, November 28 (AZERTAC). Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met Tuesday co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Pedro Agramunt Font de Mora and Joseph Debono Grech.

During the meeting they exchanged views on the ways of settling Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. They said the status quo in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was a serious obstacle for further development of the region.

Minister Mammadyarov pointed out Armenia had carried out an ethnic cleansing policy against Azerbaijanis. He drew the attention to the fact that official Yerevan avoids peace talks to resolve the conflict. Mammadyarov also said the opening of Khojaly Airport was illegal and would damage the ongoing peace process.

The co-rapporteurs said they understand Azerbaijan`s concerns and that they would include the Nagorno-Karabakh issue in the report they are currently working on.
