AZERBAIJANI INTERIOR MINISTER MEETS HEAD OF OSCE BAKU OFFICE
Baku, June 1 (AZERTAC). Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan Ramil Usubov has today met here with newly appointed head of OSCE Baku Office Ali Bilge Cankorel.
Minister wished Cankorel every success in his diplomatic career.
Interior Minister briefed chief of OSCE Baku office about the crime situation in the country.
Ramil Usubov expressed his satisfaction with development of relationship between OSCE and Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan, adding this organization takes an active part in building democratic society, ensuring security, finding a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Minister pointed out Azerbaijan successfully participates in the OSCE`s political, economic, cultural projects.
Ministry established cooperation with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, OSCE Baku Office to effectively ensure security in the country, human rights and freedoms, and fight transnational organized crime. Officers of the Ministry regularly participate in the trainings and seminars organized by OSCE in Azerbaijan and foreign countries. Since 2003, OSCE has started implementing Police Assistance Program. To this end, Ministry and OSCE Baku Office signed two protocols and agreed a number of projects.
Ramil Usubov stressed the Ministry 565 policemen were punished for violating citizen`s rights and freedoms for the past three years and half.
Ali Bilge Cankorel said cooperation between OSCE and Ministry produce good results in all spheres. He stressed OSCE is keen on improving the activity of police. He pledged OSCE would continue to assist police.
