AZERBAIJANI PREMIER MEETS DELEGATION OF AMERICAN JEWISH COMMITTEE
Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Artur Rasizade met Thursday with a delegation headed by Executive Director of American Jewish Committee David Allan Harris.
The Premier spoke of important successes his country has achieved over past years, reforms covering all fields, as well as basic priorities of foreign policy.
He said Azerbaijan, a bridge between Europe and Asia, is among world`s leading countries for its development rate. The country has realized large-scale energy transportation projects and developed local infrastructure.
Rasizade informed the guests about the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh. He said Azerbaijan wishes to have peaceful relationships with all neighboring countries.
Because of Armenia`s non-constructive stance the conflict remains unsettled. The world`s leading countries and international organizations should influence Armenia on this question, underscored the Azerbaijani Premier.
He added the resolution of the conflict must be based on the norms and principles of international law and Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
Rasizade said US-Azerbaijan bilateral relationships are successfully developing in various fields. The Premier highlighted the role of US Jewish community in expanding and strengthening these relationships.
David A. Harris, in his turn, briefed on activities of the Committee, saying AJC, established in 1906 by a small group of American Jews, combats anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, promotes pluralism and shared democratic values.
He described Azerbaijan as a safe place for free activities of all communities, including Jews.
Harris stressed the United States considers Nagorno-Karabakh as an integral part of Azerbaijan and supports resolution of the conflict based on the country`s territorial integrity.
