‘AZERBAIJANI SINGERS` PERFORMANCE WAS A MASTERCLASS’

Baku, March 24 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani singers` performance at the international mugham festival was a masterclass, said Uzbek music expert Shovkat Mirzoyev.

“I`m fond of Azerbaijan`s music, in particular mugham. Prominent Khan Shushinski was the father of mugham”

“I am well familiar with works of Ahmad Bakikhanov, Bahram Mansurov and Haji Mammadov who are the best musicians of their time. And Alim Gasymov is my favorite singer” said Mirzoyev.

He also praised the organizational level of the festival, saying “all participants were deeply impressed by what Azerbaijan`s first lady Mehriban Aliyeva had been doing to preserve and promote mugham.”

“I think it is very important that other Turkic- and Persian- speaking countries also host this kind of events, because such festivals play the role of a cultural bridge between the peoples and bring them closer to each other” Shovkat Mirzoyev said.
