AZERBAIJANI SPEAKER MEETS HEAD OF CHINA`S COMMUNIST PARTY CENTRAL COMMITTEE`S INTERNATIONAL DEPARTMENT
Speaker of the Azerbaijan Milli Majlis (Parliament) Ogtay Asadov met Monday with visiting Wang Jiarui, Head of the International Department of the Central Committee of China`s Communist Party.
Mr. Asadov said his country attaches great importance to deepening political, economic, cultural cooperation with China. He added 33 documents signed between Azerbaijan and China, constitute legal basis between the two countries.
According to the Speaker, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and China has increased by 26%.
He stressed the importance of parliamentary relations saying it has positive impact on enhancing bilateral cooperation. Mr. Asadov also invited the Chinese Parliament Speaker to Azerbaijan.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict O. Asadov highly valued China`s backing Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity. “We believe that the dispute will be settled soon with support of the international community”, added the Speaker
Mr. Wang Jiarui, in turn, expressed his gratitude to O. Asadov for warm reception. He stressed China was curious about cooperation with Azerbaijan. He also praised expanding parliamentary relations between the two countries.
The sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
