Azerbaijan`s first lady honored with “First Lady of the Year” award
Istanbul, June 13 (AzerTAC). In accordance with the poll conducted by influential Turkish magazine “Ekovitrin”, the first lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva became the winner in the nomination “First lady of the year” for 2011.
Welcoming the winners and guests, the owner of the magazine Kamran Abachioglu briefed the audience on poll conducted by the magazine. He stated that the poll has lasted for two months and 102 figures of politics, business, arts and science received 251,562 votes in 34 nominations.
Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmaladdin Ihsanoglu and Kamran Abachioglu handed over a prize “First lady of the year” to Anar Alakbarov, the executive director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, intended for President of the Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva.
Turkey`s Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertogrul Gunay received “The Minister of the year” award, while OIC Secretary General Ekmaladdin Ihsanoglu was awarded in the “International diplomacy” nomination.
The rectors of Turkey`s influential universities Mustafa Aydin, Sezer Shener, owner of “Calik Inshaat” Company Ahmad Calik, the mayor of Istanbul`s Shishli district Mustafa Sarigul were among the laureates.
The winners posed for photographs in the end of the ceremony.
