Azeri chess grandmaster to join Stavanger super tournament
Baku, February 10 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani grandmaster Teymur Rajabov will vie for medals at an international chess super tournament to be held in Stavanger, Norway, in May.
For the first time in history, organizers will gather all the eight highest ranked players in the world (FIDE Chess Ratings, February 2013) in the same tournament, including Magnus Carlsen, Vladimir Kramnik, Levon Aronian, Sergey Karjakin, Viswanathan Anand, Veselin Topalov, and Hikaru Nakamura. In addition, two more players are invited: Wang Hao, China`s highest ranked player, and the still relatively unknown Norwegian chess talent Jon Ludvig Hammer.
