Baku hosts conference “Crises response: international communities` approaches, capacities and resources”
Baku, July 2 (AZERTAC). An international conference on the topic “Crises response: international communities` approaches, capacities and resources” with support of NATO International School of Azerbaijan (NISA) has today started here.
The event brought together local specialists, representatives of NATO member states and partners, diplomats and experts.
On significance of the conference, NISA executive director Tamerlan Mammadov said the world`s financial and economic crises and international communities` approach to these issues, natural disasters and environmental protection will be discussed here.
Chief of security department of Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry Gaya Mammadov told of today`s global economic and financial crises. He said crises in the Middle East countries influenced on Azerbaijan`s economic development. Mammadov underlined crises management is one of the key issues for NATO.
Romanian ambassador to Azerbaijan Daniel Christian Chiobanu said solution of financial and economic crises is important for ensuring security and stability at the international level. On NATO-Azerbaijan relations, the diplomat said the Alliance pays great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan. The ambassador noted Azerbaijan plays an important role in transportation of NATO goods to Afghanistan and actively participates in peace-keeping forces.
The topics “Nuclear energy and security,” “Regional crises and regional organizations,” “Economic and social development,” “Problems of environment” were also in the focus of conference.
