BAKU HOSTS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “WOMEN POLITICIANS` ROLE IN NEW SECURITY ENVIRONMENT”
The international conference “Women politicians` role in new security environment” started September 11 in Baku.
The event brought together parliamentarians, representatives of political parties and diplomatic corps from 9 countries including Turkey, Georgia, Norway, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Lithuania.
Azerbaijani MP Malahat Hasanova read out the congratulatory message of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s President, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva to the conference participants.
She noted the purpose of the conference was to discuss women`s role in fighting terrorism and resolving ethnic and religious conflicts, to exchange views on increasing women`s role in society.
Milli Majlis Deputy Speaker Bahar Muradova said the conference`s theme was topical for not only the region but also the world. According to her, women`s involving into fight against international terrorism and separatism could yield positive results.
She stressed women`s role in society in Azerbaijan had increased thanks to the policy pursued by nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continuing by current president Ilham Aliyev.
Attending the event Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic said the conference confirms that the role of women should be used more in fighting terrorism, settlement of regional conflicts, as well as human rights protection.
Finally, the conference participants appealed to the world`s women.
