“BAKUSTIK JAZZ” TO JOIN JAZZ FESTIVAL IN MONTREUX

Baku, 24 April (AZERTAC). Popular Azerbaijani jazzmen Salman Gambarov`s “Bakustik Jazz” band will take part in the International Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland. Notable is that the young Azerbaijani jazz pianist Shahin Novrasly was one of the prize-winners of the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2007.

Originally a pure jazz festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival opened up in the 1970s and today presents artists of nearly every imaginable music style. Jazz remains an important part of the festival. Today`s festival lasts about two weeks and attracts an audience of more than 200,000 people. From 1995 through 2008, it occupies both the Convention Centre of the city and the Montreux Casino. The Festival features jam sessions, music parties, competitions, workshops, the archives projections, the exhibitions and free concerts in the park.
