Cooperation of Caspian littoral countries’ ports discussed in Aktau

Aktau, November 16 (AZERTAC). Aktau city of Kazakhstan hosted the 4th joint five-lateral meeting of the Caspian littoral countries’ port administrations.

The meeting featured discussions on the safety of navigation in the waters of sea ports, issues of maritime safety and reducing the harmful effects of transport on the environment.

The measures for increasing the cargo turnover and transit cargoes and modernization of port infrastructure were also discussed.

The participants paid special attention to the development of Caspian logic non-profit information system. The web resources will ensure direct access to and exchange of information between shippers and shipping lines, port and other transport organizations involved in rendering services in the cargo transportation in the Caspian Sea. It was noted that the portal will function in the first term of 2013.

The meeting participants got acquainted with the enlargement projects of the Aktau port.

As stated, the 5th meeting will be held in Baku in 2013.
