EUROPEAN COMMISSION TO FUND PROJECTS ON DEMOCRACY AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN AZERBAIJAN

Baku, 22 January (AZERTAC). European Commission will allocate €16 million to fund 9 democracy and human rights projects in Azerbaijan. Two of these projects will deal with problems of refugees and internally displaced persons and human trafficking.

According to the European Commission`s office in Azerbaijan, discussion with the Azerbaijan government on this issue is underway.

Markus Cornaro, representative of European Commission`s Europe Aid Cooperation Office, said penitentiary system of Azerbaijan is being brought in line with European standards.
