FIKRET KARAKAYA: IN BAKU I FAMILIARIZED MYSELF WITH DIFFERENT CULTURES AND MUSIC

Baku, March 24 (AZERTAC). In Baku I familiarized myself with different cultures and music, Fikret Karakaya, Turkish music expert, member of the jury at the international mugham festival, told journalists.

Karakaya described the festival as a very-well organized, saying “I thank President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva for an opportunity to enjoy Azerbaijan`s mugham.”

“One of the festival`s peculiarities was that it brought together singers and musicians both from the Turkic and Islamic world and other countries. For three days we heard many beautiful performances, but it is too early to say who has more chanses to win” said Karakaya.

The Turkish music expert also shared his impressions about mugham, saying “I’m fond of Azerbaijan`s music, in particular mugham”

“Mugham is an inexhaustible treasury, and every one must protect it since it is the symbol of unity of Turkic peoples” Karakaya said.
