FIRST AZERBAIJAN INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE FORUM STARTS
The First Azerbaijan International Insurance Forum, organized by the country`s Ministry of Finance and local Insurance Association, started at the Crescent Beach Hotel in Baku on Thursday.
The event brings together more than 100 representatives from 15 countries from around the world, including Turkey, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Austria, Great Britain, Russia, France, Germany and Poland.
The aim of the forum is to inform attendees about Azerbaijan`s insurance market, to develop integration process at the international insurance services market, to unit participants of world insurance unions and to hold exchange of views.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijan Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov spoke of 150-year history of Azerbaijani insurance, development of insurance market in the country and work done to improve insurance legislation.
Azerbaijan Minister of Economic Development Heydar Babayev spoke of the country`s achievements in the social and economic sectors. He underlined Azerbaijan`s GDP grew 15% percent this year keeping the country in a leading position in the world.
He also touched upon the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad projects.
Head of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament) standing commission for economic policy Ziyad Samadzade and official of the Finance Ministry Namig Khalilov also addressed the event.
