ICT Minister: Azerbaijan - “regional leader in internet development”

Baku, December 4 (AZERTAC). “Internet has become an integral and important part of Azerbaijan's socio-political life, and Azerbaijan has recently become one of the leading regional countries in the sphere of Internet development. This will have a positive impact not only on the further development of Azerbaijan's economy but also the entire region” said ICT Minister Ali Abbasov at the international conference "Azerbaijan 2020: The vision of the Future" held in Baku.

“The launching of the long-expected high speed mobile internet services based on 4G technology has already begun for commercial use by mobile subscribers. 4G, known as the fourth generation mobile communication technology, provides access to the network with high speed Internet up to 100 Mbps and moreover, enables top speed of data transfer. In application of 4G technology, Azerbaijan ranks 9th in Europe and 37th in the world respectively” the minister added.
