IMF ready to support Azerbaijani government`s efforts in macroeconomics

Baku, November 18 (AZERTAC). “The International Monetary Fund is ready to back the efforts of the government agencies of Azerbaijan in macroeconomic fields,” said Director of the International Monetary Fund`s Middle East and Central Asia Department Masood Ahmed.

He noted the meetings held with officials of Azerbaijan discussed largely two important issues - global and regional prospects and present state of the Azerbaijani economy.

Masood Ahmed underlined that economy of Azerbaijan produced good performances in recent years. The major challenge is to forge ahead with this success. Azerbaijan intends to reduce its reliance on the oil revenues and develop non-oil sector.

Ahmad noted discussions are being held on the challenges associated with prospects and economic policy. Results of the mission`s work will be announced next week.
