International accreditation certificates awarded to BEU covering six programs

A ceremony was held at Baku Engineering University (BEU) to present international accreditation certificates for six undergraduate programs.
The event was attended by Alina Jumaqulova, Director of the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olga Yanovskaya, Advisor to the agency, as well as members of BEU’s leadership.
In his speech, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev emphasized that the accreditation of the programs in “Information Security,” “Computer Engineering,” “Information Technology,” “Chemical Engineering,” “Mechanical Engineering,” and “Electrical and Electronics Engineering” by the reputable international accreditation body IAAR represents a significant achievement for the university. He noted that this milestone is the first in BEU’s history and constitutes an important step toward aligning higher education quality with international standards. The rector also highlighted the importance of international accreditation in ensuring the compliance of education and research activities with global requirements, enhancing the international competitiveness of students and graduates, strengthening cooperation ties, and systematically improving teaching quality and sustainable development. He further provided information on the university’s strategic priorities and research activities, adding that internationalization remains one of the key strategic goals. He noted that efforts to obtain accreditation for other programs will continue and addressed prospects for future cooperation.
Alina Jumaqulova, Director of the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating, congratulated the BEU leadership on this achievement and stated that the accreditation has been granted for a five-year period, which is considered one of the highest indicators in international practice for higher education programs. She spoke about the significance of accreditation for higher education institutions, outlined the agency’s areas of activity, and expressed interest in continuing cooperation with BEU.
In her remarks, Olga Yanovskaya highlighted BEU’s sustainable development potential and drew attention to future directions of cooperation. She also addressed the global significance of accreditation, noting that it serves not only as a quality indicator but also as a strategic mechanism for expanding international collaboration.
It was noted during the event that IAAR, a reputable international accreditation agency specializing in quality assurance in higher education, is recognized by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and is registered in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR). The agency accredits educational programs of higher education institutions in various countries, and its decisions contribute to enhancing transparency, accountability, and quality in higher education.
At the end of the ceremony, IAAR accreditation certificates were presented to the rector of BEU.
