Los Angeles World Affairs Council holds event on Azerbaijan
Baku, November 16 (AZERTAC). Los Angeles World Affairs Council held an event dedicated to Azerbaijan.
The council is the greatest organization in field of international relations in California. The organization is being representing by the well-known persons who plays important role in the social and political life of California.
The event was attended not only by the members of the council but also by the representatives of the mass media acting here, professors of the high schools, businessmen, consuls of foreign countries, composers of Hollywood movies and other art figures as well as the members of Azerbaijani and Jewish and other communities.
Former Senior Correspondent of well-known “Time” magazine, as well as ABC News and CBS News TV channels Terry McCarty opened the event and underlined that Azerbaijan has a highly developed oil industry and lots of Jewish communities have been living peacefully for centuries. He also stressed closed cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel.
Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles Nasimi Agayev gave detailed information on the reach history and culture of Azerbaijan, rapid development of the country in all spheres during the period of the restoration of independence and added that the country became the leading country in the region.
Agayev also told about the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Armenian aggression and terror acts committed against over the 1 million Azeri civilians.
Because of its aggressive policy Armenia isolated itself from potential projects in the region, lost half of its population and put itself face to face with difficult economic situation.
The consul also added that the future of Armenia directly depends on the peaceful relations with Azerbaijan and the government must acknowledge this situation as soon as possible.
“Armenian lobby which trying to damage Azerbaijan doesn’t serve peace. The lobby just damages the Armenian civilians in this way,” said Azeri Diplomat.
