Malmö gets "Eurovision Keys" from Baku
Baku, January 18 (AZERTAC). Just before today’s Semi-Final Allocation Draw, Malmö officially became the host city of Eurovision Song Contest 2013. Last year’s host city Baku handed over the symbolic Eurovision key for Malmö. Mayor of Baku Hajibala Abutalibov and the Mayor of Malmö Kent Andersson attended the event at the Malmö City Hall.
Delivering a speech in the event, Abutalibov wished his Swedish counterpart successes. Azerbaijan`s ambassador in Sweden Rafael Ibrahimov spoke about the role of the Eurovision in strengthening friendship and cooperation among the countries.
At around 11:30, the delegation headed for Malmö City Hall, they were accompanied by a parade from Malmöhusgardet.
Executive Supervisor Jon Ola Sand thanked Baku for hosting the 2012 event.
“I want to thank the people of Baku for their support and enthusiasm they showed last year,” he said.
Couple of hours after this event it was time for the Allocation Draw. The contest logo and slogan were also unveiled for the first time. The logo, a butterfly, is supposed to reflect "The Butterfly Effect", where one small event can in theory cause a hurricane somewhere else in the world. Meanwhile, Swedish television chose the slogan "We are one" for the contest.
Sweden won the contest in Baku with Loreen's "Euphoria".
