MEETING ON “EU`S ROLE IN CONFLICT RESOLUTION” HELD IN UK
A meeting on “European Union`s role in conflict resolution” was held in the UK.
The event brought together Liberal Democrats` members of Parliament, members of the party`s European Group and others.
Attending the event, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the UK Fakhraddin Gurbanov delivered a speech on Azerbaijan-EU relations. He said integration into Euro-Atlantic structures was one of his country`s foreign policy priorities.
The Ambassador stressed Azerbaijan`s relationship with EU within the European Neighborhood Policy Action Plan were successfully developing.
Mr. Gurbanov also noted the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was a serious threat to regional peace and stability. He added the settlement of the dispute could pave the way to regional integration.
Deputy Director of the Centre of International Studies of Cambridge University Dr. Julie Smith said unresolved conflicts were a source of threat for Europe.
He also stressed the necessity of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement.
