MILLI MAJLIS SPEAKER MEETS MEMBERS OF PACE ELECTION OBSERVATION MISSION
Speaker of the Azerbaijan Milli Majlis (Parliament) Ogtay Asadov met Tuesday in Baku with members of the PACE election observation mission headed by Andreas Herkel.
Mr. Asadov said his country makes significant efforts to protect human rights and ensure supremacy of law. He added the Azerbaijani government would spare no efforts to hold the forthcoming presidential election in a democratic, free and transparent manner.”
According to the Speaker, the CE Venice Commission, OSCE/ODIHR have praised the amendments made to the Azerbaijan`s Election Code and law on freedom of Assembly.
Andreas Herkel, in turn, said the PACE mission highly values amendments and supplements made to the Election Code and other laws.
The meeting also discussed prospects for CE-Azerbaijan relations, activity of the observation mission, election preparations and other issues.
