Minister Ali Abbasov: “Azerbaijan is actively involved in Internet development”

Baku, November 5 (AZERTAC). “Azerbaijan is actively involved in the development of Internet and a number of Facebook users in Azerbaijan grows approaching one million,” Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov said at the ministerial meeting as part of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Baku.

The minister stressed that the country pays special attention to the development of Internet services. According to Abbasov, the Internet should be accessible to everyone, it should be free. "From this point of view the Internet in Azerbaijan is not controlled or managed by the state, it is fully accessible to every citizen of the country," said Abbasov.

According to Abbasov, currently one of the most important challenges of the world is the security of information, effective protection of the web against virtual threats.
