PACE AUTUMN SESSION STARTS
The PACE autumn session commenced on September 29. Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov said the document on PACE pre-election mission`s visit to Azerbaijan was distributed at the bureau meeting. The document highlights high-level build-up to elections, amendments to the Election Code based on Venice Commission recommendations.
Azerbaijani delegation members revealed Azerbaijan`s position on the issues at the meetings of groups and committees.
Opening the PACE autumn session Lluis Maria de Puig touched on his South Caucasus tour in early July. He stressed Azerbaijan achieved progress in developing democracy and protecting human rights. He expressed concern over the conflict between Georgia and Russia.
He also noted parliamentarians would discuss violence against women, situation of ethnic groups in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzogovina`s and Serbia`s honoring their obligations and other issues.
