PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV INAUGURATES BAKU MUSICAL ACADEMY
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and first lady Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva today have attended the inauguration of newly reconstructed Baku Musical Academy.
The first couple put flowers on the monument to prominent Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibayov standing in front of the Academy building.
Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra and State Chorus performed fragments from “Koroglu” opera.
President Aliyev toured the building and highly praised the work done.
Speaking to an official ceremony on the occasion, which took place at the Academy’s concert hall, he pointed out that cultural sphere is developing in the country as steadily as any other one. “Reconstruction of other cultural centers, including theaters, museums as well as historic buildings is underway across the republic,” he said.
The Head of state also spoke of the reforms being implemented in Azerbaijan in the sphere of education.
Rector of the academy, Prof. Farhad Badalbayli thanked the President for the care shown to the Academy. He also underlined the great contributions made by President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva to development of culture and education in Azerbaijan.
The ceremony was followed by a concert of the students of the Academy and Bulbul Music School and visiting Italian musician Giuseppe Talemon, who performed classical works of Azerbaijani and foreign music composers.
