PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV INAUGURATES PARALYMPIC SPORT COMPLEX IN SUMGAIT
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today attended the inauguration of the Labour and Social Protection of the Population Ministry`s Paralympic Sport Complex in Sumgait.
The Head of State was told that the decision to build the complex had been made after national leader Heydar Aliyev`s meeting with paralympians. It is the first complex of this kind built in the CIS area and designed to host local and international events. Construction of the complex began in 2005. Construction budget is 3.1 million manats.
The complex has the assembly hall, gyms, pool and other facilities. The modern hotel is scheduled to be built near the complex.
The President cut the red ribbon symbolizing official opening of the complex and viewed the building.
There is a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the foyer and photo stand reflecting Heydar Aliyev`s and President Ilham Aliyev`s meetings with athletes.
The Head of State met with athletes who competed in the Beijing Olympics.
