PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV INSPECTS CONSTRUCTION OF “NASIMI” AND “AZADLYG PROSPEKTI” METRO STATIONS
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today inspected construction of “Nasimi” and “Azadlyg Prospekti” metro stations.
The Head of State first visited construction site of the Nasimi station located between sixth and ninth microrayons and got familiar with the northern area scheme of the Baku Metro and future development plans.
The new line from the Nasimi station will link up with other stations. There are projects to construct new stations to expand the Baku underground network and meet the needs of the Baku residents. Nasimi station is the first constructed after the country regained its independence. It is being built by local specialists. The metro is expected to be extended to Sumgait in the future. The new metro stations are to be constructed in Badamdar and Guneshli areas.
The President toured the power-generating unit and platform at the station.
Nasimi is the first station provided with the state-of-the-art equipment. Construction, which began in 2006, is nearing the end. Train movement and technical control have been totally computerized. The station will employ 251 people. The length of the line between Memar Ajami and Nasimi stations is 2660 meters.
Afterwards, President Ilham Aliyev arrived at the “Azadlyg prospekti” station located between seventh and eighth microrayons in the Binagadi district.
The Head of State was told that construction here began in August 2007. The length of the tunnel linking Nasimi and Azadlyg Prospekti stations is 1300 meters. The platform and both two entrances have been already built. The station is being built by the Azermetrotuneltikinti CJC.
Azerbaijani leader was informed about plans to construct stations in order to continue the line from the Azadlyg prospekti station. Construction will end by the end of 2009.
The President chose one of the two versions of station interior design prepared by the Bakumetrolayihe Institute.
President Ilham Aliyev gave recommendations on the work to be done in the station and surrounding areas.
