President Ilham Aliyev opens Astara Olympic Sport Complex
Astara, March 13 (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today inaugurated the Astara Olympic Sport Complex.
The Head of State cut a ribbon symbolizing an official opening of the facility.
The complex is located on the 5 hectares of land. The construction here began in 2006. It houses photo galleries featuring national leader Heydar Aliyev`s and President Ilham Aliyev`s activities. The complex seats 936 for football, volleyball, basketball, tennis and 172 for swimming.
The complex can be a venue for some kind of events.
The President was told that local free-style wrestlers Jabrail Hasanov and Sona Ahmadli won a bronze medal in the world championship in Istanbul. Hasanov booked an Olympic spot.
The Head of State saw four cottages in the area of the complex.
President Ilham Aliyev addressed the opening ceremony.
16-fold Azerbaijan champion in field and track athletics Fikret Gafarov thanked the President of the care and attention to sport development.
