PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES RELIGIOUS FIGURES
Baku, July 6 (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received religious figures from foreign countries who arrived here to attend inauguration of the Tezepir Mosque Complex.
The Head of State said, “we have good relationship with other peoples including religious figures. Everyone needs peace in Caucasus - both peoples living in the region and the whole world. Unfortunately, there have always been wars and conflicts in our region. With our joint efforts, we can put an end to all these things”.
“We have to intensify enlightenment work to present to the world our religion as it is. Events must be held within various originations,” said the President.
According to the Azerbaijani leader, Azerbaijan can be a center of interreligious dialogue. On one hand, Islamic traditions are very old and strong in Azerbaijan. On the other hand, the country’s geographical position plays its role as well. Azerbaijan is a part of both Europe and Asia.
President Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan is a non-national and multi-faith state, which established good ties with both Muslim states as well as CoE member states and European organizations.
“Every citizen feels a part of the society. Strong friendly ties exist between the government and religious figures. The foundation of this was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev,” said the President.
The Head of State lauded services of chairman of the Clerical Office of Caucasus Muslims and CIS Deliberative Council Allahshukur Pashazade.
Azerbaijani Leader briefed religious leaders on Azerbaijan`s economic and social accomplishments
President Ilham Aliyev told of the problems of IDPs driven from their homes by Armenian occupation as well as Meskheti Turks who moved to Azerbaijan from Central Asia. He added unlike other neighbors, Azerbaijan is able to solve all problems on its own without foreign aid.
The Head of State spoke about relationship with Russia`s regions including North Caucasus republics and state of ties with the neighboring Russian Federation as a whole. He noted expansion of trade and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Russia answer interests of both peoples.
Chairman of the North Caucasus Muslims Council Ismayil Berdiyev described reconstruction of the new Tezepir Mosque Complex as the landmark event. He said relationship between religion and government in Azerbaijan is an example for other countries.
“I am a witness of good attitude of national leader Heydar Aliyev towards religious figures and Muslims as a whole,” said Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Iran Friendship Society. According to him, President Ilham Aliyev successfully continued this kind of care.
Kuwaiti Deputy Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Adil Al-Falah congratulated President Ilham Aliyev and all people of Azerbaijan on inauguration of the Tezepir Mosque Complex.
President Ilham Aliyev said he had recently visited Kuwait where he had effective talks with Emir of Kuwait, adding he invited Emir to visit Azerbaijan
The Head of State asked Adil Al-Falah to pass on his greetings and invitation to Emir of Kuwait.
