PRESIDENT INAUGURATES NEW BUILDING FOR BSU
President Ilham Aliyev has today inaugurated a new building for the Baku State University.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the President and first lady Mehriban Aliyeva entered the lobby where they viewed photos reflecting nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev`s services in developing education in the country.
The building`s construction started in 1991, but later was halted because of some financial problems. In 2006 President Aliyev ordered allocation of AZN600,000 to continue the construction work. In the following years the President raised the figure to AZN2.5 million and AZN4.6 million respectively.
The total square of the ten-storied building is 15,000 square meters. The building can handle over 4,000 students.
The President toured history, cybernetics and computer laboratories, and viewed a dining hall and medical center.
He praised the conditions created here. President Aliyev said the government will continue supporting development of education system.
