Prospects of Azerbaijani-Portuguese relations discussed
Baku, June 28 (AZERTAC). FM of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met the foreign minister of Portugal Paulo Portas who is now visiting the country.
The ministers expressed satisfaction with current level of relations, and agreed to set up a bilateral commission between Azerbaijan and Portugal.
Speaking of fruitfulness of the meeting, Mr. Mammadyarov underlined that there is good condition to strengthen cooperation between Azerbaijan and Portugal in political, economic and other fields.
Foreign minister of Portugal said they discussed issues of development of relations between two countries. According to him, Portugal is interested in development of cooperation with Azerbaijan in various spheres.
Noting that Azerbaijan is an important political and economic partner for Portugal, Mr. Portas underlined similarity of the positions of the countries from the standpoint of the territory and number of population, and membership of both countries in the UN Security Council.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the Portuguese minister said the problem should be solved by diplomatic means.
According to Portuguese minister, Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict are important for entire region.
